Eskmo: Bender of Time and Space

Eskmo's (Brendan Angelidas, aka Welder) performance in Minneapolis at the Loft last Friday (December 17th, 2010) was not only the final show 507projex will attend in Minnesota for the year (DENVER BOUND)--it was also among the most mind-blowing of 2010, a result of Eskmo's indigenous ability to bend time and space with sound design.  This year has brought a swath of the world's top DJ/producers through the Twin Cities, a spattering of genre and style, but few rise above the clatter and womp and come across as wholly unique and as pioneering as Eskmo.  While Eskmo's first performance in Minnie this year (Febraury with EPROM) was nothing short of amazing, his final performance was a feat of magic to rival Gandalf.

Hot off the release of his self-titled 2010 album earlier this fall, Eskmo pushes his art and idm to another level with an incredibly focused set of sound production skills both in the studio and on stage.  Who else loops the ripping of cardboard into a microphone to accompany a standard snare?  If Eskmo is coming to a venue near you, by all means buy that ticket and lose yourself in a groove-saturated, polytempo electronic expedition to the very edges of the scene.

Eskmo - Come Back - Free Download

We were stoked to film Eskmo (Brendan Angelides) in Minneapolis earlier this year when he came through with EPROM in what we called "a sonically-intense potpourri of live and lucid IDM extravaganza."  Brendan's latest cut, Come Back, showcases the polytempo goodness that sets him apart from nearly everyone else in the scene.  Click here to check out XLR8R's coverage and download Come Back.

Here is Eskmo Live in Minneapolis I, filmed at the Loft, February 5th, 2010.
