507: You go by Profresher as well as Billy Blacklight. Why the two monikers? Does it reflect an Eskmo/Welder dynamic, where the music varies depending on the name?
Profresher: Actually they are just names there was no intention to make them seperate i think i just highassed it most of them time when naming haha but really there is one name through it all which is Profresher Blacklight the reason Billy was added was so I could keep part of my own identity on facebook :)
507: What was the most memorable show you’ve performed and why?
Profresher: The other night in KC Missouri with Crizzly was really really fun and memorable partly because of this after party which has a mini ramp 4000 watt sound system, and a kitchen on the 6th floor loft of this crazy building haha
507: What do you think about the Minneapolis edm scene (good and ugly)? If you could transplant to another scene, where would you go?
Profresher: I think its very powerful, people love their music here. We have always been known for our diversity here but for some reason I cant help but feel like this place is as cliquey as anywhere else.... Which is why I think its a type of person thing and not a location thing.... I cannot wait for people to start really getting on the quest for new inspiring music on their own rather than just jumping on the bandwagon to attend the "party"
507: What do you want the crowd to take away from a Billy Blacklight/Profresher show?
Profresher: I want them to be at first intrigued then slowly once the transition from whatever they are used to listening to to my music should occur.... kinda like short psychedelic trip pretty uncomfortable at first but at the end very enlightening hahaha
507: What’s next on your plate? Any new releases or shows coming up?
Profresher: I have multiple releases planned for this year.... right now I am in the home stretch of getting a couple remixes done for my debut EP Celestial Ethers which will drop this fall.... I also have started a new LP looking at a release date around valentines day of 2012, As well as my friend Louis Rovner and I have revived our old project Boom Khat and are working on our first album the first track from the new project can be found here ... ALSOOOO I am in the process of collecting Rap submissions of peoples versions of the song Gnarly Rootz I currently have 6 versions of the song and am just waiting for everyone to feel comfortable and get permissions etc then im going to release an ep of that song in its different forms including a heavier bass remix by me :).... and the Final thing I have planned right now is a hip hop Remix tape similar to Eliminating the Middleman called Bacchanalia coming out for the holidays.
